Anthony Farmer Columbus, Ohio Vehicle Collision: Authorities in Columbus Recognize Hit-and-Run Victim from North Linden; Motorist Detained

Columbus authorities have announced the identity of the individual who died in a hit-and-run incident in North Linden, and one suspect is now in custody.

A representative from the Columbus Division of Police stated that the deceased is Anthony Farmer. On January 5, at around 10:15 p.m., Farmer was making his way across Cleveland Avenue from Eddystone Avenue when a vehicle traveling south hit him and then fled the area.

Emergency responders declared Farmer deceased at the location. Law enforcement officials are encouraging anyone who saw the hit-and-run to come forward with information that could aid in the investigation.

Officials have reported that the driver responsible for the incident surrendered at his lawyer's office and has been interviewed by the Accident Investigation Unit. The name of the driver has yet to be disclosed, and potential charges are still being determined.

Residents of North Linden have expressed ongoing concerns regarding the intersection at Cleveland Avenue. The City of Columbus is launching the Walk Safe on Cleveland Avenue project to enhance pedestrian safety, noting that this corridor sees more pedestrian accidents than many other streets in the city. Although there are plans to install 14 improved crosswalks along the corridor, there is currently no crosswalk at Cleveland and Eddystone, the site of the tragic accident.

The local community is grieving the death of Anthony Farmer and is urging residents to keep his family and friends in their prayers during this challenging period.
