At the age of just 23, Sonja's sudden passing has created a significant emptiness in the lives of her family, friends, and community, who will always remember her affectionate nature, generosity, and vibrant spirit.
Sonja, the beloved daughter of Peter and Christine Strom and the adoring sister of Annika Strom, was raised in Castle Rock, where she flourished in a community that she adored. From her early years, Sonja engaged fully in life—shining in her studies, participating in athletics, volunteering her time, and working for the town that held her heart. Her dedication and proactive spirit were evident in all her endeavors, leading to the respect and admiration of those around her. After completing her studies at Douglas County High School, Sonja was recognized by teachers and fellow students not only for her intelligence but also for her warm-hearted and reliable nature that left a lasting impact.
Following her graduation, Sonja embarked on a new chapter in La Jolla, California, to follow her interest in science while studying Chemical Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. In La Jolla, she found a welcoming environment, living life with the same passion she had cultivated in Castle Rock. The picturesque beaches of the Pacific Coast and the pleasant climate matched Sonja’s adventurous spirit, allowing her to relish traveling, skiing, and discovering new activities. She felt the most alive while frolicking in the ocean's waves or taking winter ski excursions with her friends.
Beyond her adventurous pursuits, Sonja possessed a creative flair. She enjoyed trying out new cooking ideas on TikTok, indulging in books, and going to concerts, constantly looking for fresh experiences to enhance her enjoyment of life. Her vibrant energy was infectious, and those around her experienced her enthusiasm and zest for living. Whether she was with family, enjoying nature, or creating precious memories with her close friends, Sonja treasured every moment.
Those fortunate enough to have known Sonja remember her for her shining spirit, her selfless affection, and her steadfast loyalty.
