The inhabitants of Falls City and the nearby areas are grieving the heartbreaking and unforeseen demise of Shawna Harkendorff, a cherished woman of 41 years whose life was cut tragically short on Wednesday afternoon. Shawna tragically lost her life in an accident south of Auburn on Highway 75, leaving her family, friends, and neighbors enveloped in deep sorrow as they grapple with her sudden loss.
As reported by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office, Shawna was traveling in a Lincoln MKC along the S curves close to Road 726 when her vehicle entered the southbound lane, resulting in a collision with a truck operated by Andrey Shagaliyev from Winkler, Manitoba. Although various emergency organizations responded promptly, Shawna was sadly declared dead at the accident site. Shagaliyev was taken to Nemaha County Hospital with possible injuries, and the community keeps him in their thoughts.
Even though both drivers were using seatbelts, the collision's devastation was immense and irreversible. The incident prompted a coordinated response from Auburn Fire and Rescue, Nebraska Game and Parks, the Nebraska Department of Transportation, the Nebraska State Patrol, and the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office, all of whom worked diligently following the tragedy.
