Georgia Father Fatally Shot After Confrontation With Daughter’s Shift Manager Outside Bojangles

A tragic shooting outside a Bojangles restaurant in Palmetto, Georgia, left a father dead Sunday afternoon after what authorities describe as an escalating confrontation involving his daughter’s shift manager. The victim has been identified as Dominique Goodman, whose death has devastated his family and sparked renewed conversations about workplace conflict and gun violence.

Police responded to the Bojangles located at 9135 Roosevelt Highway around 1:15 p.m., where they discovered Goodman fatally wounded in the restaurant parking lot. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. According to investigators, the suspect — Maurice Nolan Evans of Forest Park — was a Bojangles employee and shift manager who had reportedly been involved in a dispute with Goodman’s daughter earlier that day.

Goodman’s daughter, who also works at the restaurant, allegedly experienced a tense argument with Evans during her shift. Feeling concerned and upset, she contacted her father for assistance. Authorities say that after Evans completed his shift, he remained in the parking lot instead of leaving the premises, setting the stage for the fatal encounter.

Police report that Goodman and Evans engaged in a physical altercation shortly before the shooting. Although the exact details remain under investigation, officers say preliminary evidence suggests the confrontation escalated, leading Evans to shoot Goodman with a firearm. Evans was arrested shortly afterward and charged with aggravated assault, murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Goodman’s family and loved ones expressed deep grief and disbelief following the incident. Family friend Marlene Lately described the violence as senseless, saying the tragedy could have been avoided. “These people need to put these guns down, and he should’ve gone home like the manager told him and none of this would’ve happened,” she said. “She would have a father. They would have their cousin and their brother. And you know, it’s the holiday.” Her emotional statement reflects the heartbreak many feel over a life lost just weeks before Christmas.

Authorities confirmed that Evans is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail as investigations continue. Police continue to piece together the chain of events that led to the fatal confrontation, including reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing physical evidence from the scene.

The incident has shaken the local community, bringing attention to the dangers of unresolved workplace disputes and the tragic consequences that can follow. As the investigation unfolds, Goodman’s family is calling for justice while preparing to lay him to rest during what should have been a joyful holiday season.

This heartbreaking case serves as another reminder of the escalating violence across communities nationwide and the need for conflict resolution support, workplace safety measures, and mental health awareness to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
