 Texas — The community of Robstown is grieving the tragic death of 14-year-old Shawn Sanchez, who was shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon at the Figueroa Square Apartments. Discovered with several gunshot injuries, Shawn was taken to a hospital but sadly succumbed to his wounds, leaving his family, friends, and nearby residents heartbroken from this sudden and senseless tragedy.

Officials have confirmed that the shooting on Tuesday is linked to a prior event that took place on Sunday morning on West Avenue C. Police Chief Mike Tamez mentioned that detectives have been diligently working to find and catch those who are accountable. 

"We want to ensure this family receives justice," Chief Tamez stated, highlighting that officers have been tirelessly collecting evidence and pursuing leads. Additionally, he called on parents and the community to engage actively in preventing violence among youth, stressing that children should not be on the streets with firearms.

In response to this incident, Robstown Independent School District has intensified security protocols, enlisted the help of counselors and social workers, and is collaborating closely with local police to ensure safety for students and staff. The district advocates for the community to support one another and seek assistance as they cope with this challenging time.
