Carlisle Community Disturbed Following the Deadly Shooting of Eric Roland

 The community in Carlisle, Arkansas is grieving the death of 37-year-old Eric Roland, who was shot and killed early on Sunday morning, November 2, as confirmed by officials. The Arkansas State Police (ASP) are in charge of the investigation following a request for support from the Carlisle Police Department (CPD).


As per reports, CPD officers arrived at the 400 block of North Greenlaw Avenue after receiving reports concerning a shooting. When they got to the scene, emergency responders discovered Roland had died from apparent gunshot injuries. Witnesses pointed out 40-year-old Cyle Ramone Cooney as the suspected shooter, who escaped in a white Dodge Ram. Law enforcement officials apprehended Cooney around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday with help from the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office.

Cooney faces charges including First-Degree Murder, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons. He is currently in custody at the Lonoke County Detention Center on a bond set at $150,000, with a court appearance scheduled for January 12, 2026.

Authorities are diligently reconstructing the series of events that led to the shooting. They are examining physical evidence, gathering testimonies from witnesses, and scrutinizing ballistic and forensic data to comprehensively understand the events surrounding Roland’s death. Officials from ASP have indicated that this investigation is a primary focus, highlighting the importance of uncovering motives and any factors that may have contributed.
