The shooting in the Hammond area is being investigated by TPSO. The cause of death and obituary of Lawrence Wilson
The gunman on Monday, 18-year-old Lawrence Wilson, has died from his injuries, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO) reports. The situation is presently being investigated as a homicide.
Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on September 29, Wilson was shot in the head and transported to a local hospital, according to officials. Despite medical efforts, he eventually died from his wounds.
A person first thought to have been engaged in the shooting turned out to be a good Samaritan who helped Wilson get to the hospital, according to investigators.
The altercation began earlier that day after reports of gunfire between two cars in the 13000 block of Miley Niquiporo Road. Soon after, there were additional reports of gunshots at a vehicle near the intersection of Rufus Bankston Road and Highway 1064. Although no injuries were immediately reported at the scenes, detectives now believe these episodes are related to Wilson's fatal shooting.
The TPSO is still investigating several leads and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
