Chula Vista Deadly Shooting: Lockdown at Eastlake High School, Ongoing Shooter Situation, Law Enforcement Present

Following alerts regarding an active shooter situation close to Eastlake High School, the school and nearby campuses in Chula Vista were placed under lockdown on Thursday morning.

Authorities indicated that upon receiving accounts of gunshots in or around Eastlake High School, heavily equipped officers from the Chula Vista Police Department arrived at the location on Main Street. To ensure the safety of students and staff, officers are currently at the scene conducting a thorough search of the vicinity.

In a critical communication, the Chula Vista Elementary School District urged parents to refrain from going to the school at this moment, as their presence could hinder emergency response efforts.

The district released a statement saying, "Please do not come to the area until law enforcement ensures the school’s safety." "We are working closely with the police to address the situation, with student safety being our foremost concern."

As officials clear buildings and investigate the source of the reports, surrounding schools have also taken additional safety measures by implementing precautionary lockdowns.

Details regarding a suspect or confirmation of gunfire on campus have not yet been released by the police, and, as of now, no injuries have been reported.

According to footage and photos from the scene, there is a heavy police presence, which includes tactical teams and emergency vehicles, stationed around Eastlake High School and along Main Street.

Chula Vista Police are advising the community to stay clear of the area and to seek information only from verified district and city channels.

The situation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided.
