What Caused Donna Loraine Steiner's Death? Her Obituary

 Donna Loraine Steiner, 86, of Nappanee, IN, passed away at 4 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, to be with her Heavenly Father at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart, IN. On May 1, 1939, Donna was born in Deckerville, Michigan, to Ford and Vivian (Montgomery) Weyeneth. Donna went to Deckerville High School and Elkhart University. 


On October 1, 1960, Donna married Paul "David" Steiner II in Deckerville, Michigan.The majority of their lives were spent in Northern Indiana, following thirty-five years in Wakarusa, Indiana, and twenty-four years in Nappanee. Donna worked as a technician for Drs. Miller and Abel in Wakarusa for a number of years. She belonged to the Nappanee Missionary Church and was active in her beliefs. 


Donna's ability to be "present" for others is a gift from God. She cared deeply for everyone with whom she came in contact. In her free time, she loved to play tennis and other sports, especially ones in which her children and grandchildren played. Above all, Donna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved attending her grandchildren's events and spending time with them. Eight grandkids are present: 

Wesley (Katie) Steiner, Maggie Steiner, Lauren (Michael) Buschbacher, Luke (Becca) Steiner, Corey Ellis, Garrett Ellis, Joel (Kate) Steiner, and Neleh Steiner; three children: Alan (Kris) Steiner of Leo, IN; Sherri (James) Ellis of Nappanee; and Mark (Paula) Steiner of Wakarusa; and Donna's husband, Paul David Steiner II of Nappanee, with whom she was married for almost 65 years.


Mary, Josiah, Gideon, Nathaniel, and Rowen and Norah Steiner, Agnes and Emmanuel Steiner, and a brother, Donald (Jayne) Weyeneth, from Sandusky, Michigan. Before her, Donna's parents died. Visitors can visit the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel (Enter Door H) on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and the Worship Center (Enter Door A) on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 9:30-10:30 am.  

The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Worship Center.  Pastor Dave Engbrecht will officiate the funeral, which will take place at South Union Cemetery.  The Missions department at Nappanee Missionary Church is accepting donations in Donna's name.
