Two teenage boys are injured in a daylight attack during a knife fight in Brixton, which results in a fatal stabbing.
A bunch of young men got into a confrontation in broad daylight on September 23 at around 3 p.m. The victims were treated immediately by paramedics and Metropolitan Police officers upon their timely arrival, and they were then taken to a south London hospital. Police said the boys' injuries, which include minor trauma and an arm knife wound, are not life-threatening.
Video of the brawl went viral on social media, showing bystanders fleeing as the violence started. Detectives are presently reviewing the area's CCTV and have urged any witnesses or anyone with video footage to come forward.
"This was a tragic tragedy that took place in the middle of the day on a public road," a police official said. "We are doing everything we can to identify the guilty parties and reassure the community."
Concerns regarding knife violence in Brixton and surrounding areas of London are already heightened by the altercation. Locals have repeatedly called for more preventative steps to protect children from assault.
No one has been arrested yet, and the inquiry is still ongoing.
