Three People Died in Two Different Accidents on the Ohio Turnpike in Erie County

Ohio's ERIE County — Authorities reported that three people died in two different accidents on Sunday after a horrific morning on the Ohio Turnpike.

The initial collision happened just east of the Frailey Road overpass at approximately 6:40 a.m. A truck driven by an Indianapolis man swerved off the road and struck a tow vehicle that was stopped and had its emergency lights on, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Dantrail Reese, a 32-year-old Indianapolis native, was the truck's passenger and was declared dead at the site. The tow truck driver was not hurt because he was outside the car at the time.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m., a second collision occurred as a result of traffic delays from the first one. The rear of a Peterbilt 389 tractor-tanker combo was damaged by a Toyota Sienna. The truck driver was unharmed, while the Sienna's driver and passenger were declared dead at the site. Their identities are still under wraps.

While personnel cleared the site, officials blocked the impacted section of the Ohio Turnpike for about three hours.

Authorities are currently investigating both accidents in an effort to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incidents.
