Shelby Township, Michigan's Davis, Fatme The Meijer stabbing victim's ex-husband, Sydney Davis, is charged with murder.
A 25-year-old man is accused with first-degree premeditated murder after he reportedly battered and stabbed his estranged wife to death inside a Shelby Township gas station on Sunday night.
On September 21, about 5:00 p.m., an attack occurred at the Meijer gas station on Hall Road near Hayes Road. The woman and her ex-husband, Sydney Emmanuel Davis Jr. of Utica, were exchanging custody when the altercation began, according to the police.
The prosecution claims that while the couple's child was waiting in her car, 23-year-old Fatme "Stella" Davis was viciously assaulted and stabbed by Davis. The child, a 1-year-old boy named Elliot, was unharmed and is currently in the custody of his paternal grandmother.
Fatme was transported to a neighboring hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Davis was subsequently arrested in Armada Township. He entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment in 41A District Court on Wednesday, September 24. He was denied bail by the judge.
According to a statement from Macomb County prosecutor Peter J. Lucido, the charges in this case are "both astonishing and very disturbing." A young woman was allegedly killed by her estranged husband while their toddler waited in the car. Our firm is committed to pursuing this case to the fullest extent of the law in order to ensure that justice is served.
Following a probable cause conference on October 7 at 1 p.m., a preliminary exam is scheduled for October 14 at 1 p.m.
GoFundMe: As we begin to deal with this unfathomable loss, we are asking for help to cover the costs of funeral arrangements and burying Stella with the respect she deserves. Any money left over after these costs will be directly transferred to a trust for little Elliot, ensuring that Stella's legacy of devotion and love will live on into her son's future.
Family members recall Stella, whose real name was Fatme Davis, as a powerful and affectionate mother who dedicated her life to her son, Elliot.
She "was a strong-willed woman who carried herself with calm resilience amid life's many trials," according to her relatives. Despite suffering struggles that most people were not aware of, she was the first to be there for others, offering love, laughter, and support when needed. Their bond was strong, and Elliot was the center of her existence.
The loss of a mother, friend, sister, and daughter who died too young is being mourned by many in the community, including Stella's family and friends.
Authorities stressed the importance of the resources offered to victims of domestic abuse. Michigan's Domestic Violence Hotline is free, confidential, and accessible 24/7.
