 Fant, Dallas, GA; Preston Cause of Death and Obituary: Preston Fant of Dallas, Georgia, was killed while on duty on September 8, 2025, after valiantly responding to a fire as a member of the DeKalb County Fire Rescue squad. His departure is accompanied by profound respect and sadness. Preston was 48 years old.


Preston was a devoted husband, father, and public worker who was courageous, altruistic, and service-oriented. For more than 21 years, he proudly wore the uniform while serving as a firefighter and a neighborhood watchdog, answering calls at any hour of the day or at any risk.



He is survived by his wife, Leigh Fant, and their five beloved children, who were the source of his happiness and the motivation for all he accomplished. Preston was a rock for his family; he was trustworthy, compassionate, and deeply adored. To his fellow firemen, he was a leader, a friend, and a mentor. And to the community he so selflessly served, he was a hero.


Beyond saving lives and extinguishing fires, Preston's legacy include the simple deeds of kindness, dinner table laughter, and the moral rectitude with which he lived his life. He taught his children the value of tenacity, selflessness, and good behavior even in the absence of others.
