John Louis Petri, Jr., Westminster, Md. Car Accient: In Memory of John Louis Petri, Jr., Who Died Tragically in a Single-Vehicle Accident in Carroll County

 Maryland State Police are investigating a terrible single-vehicle crash that occurred in Carroll County early this morning, September 20, 2025.

John Louis Petri, Jr., a 28-year-old resident of Westminster, Maryland, was identified as the deceased. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services personnel.

At approximately 1:40 in the morning, Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack troops arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Maryland Route 97 close to Mayberry Road. A Honda CR-V was traveling north on Maryland 97 when it went off the road for an unknown cause and overturned, hitting a fence, a house, and a telephone pole, according to early findings.

No other injuries have been reported at the scene.

All lanes of Maryland Route 97 are currently halted while investigators look into the collision. State Highway Administration staff from the Maryland Department of Transportation are helping with the road closure.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is in charge of the investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Westminster Barrack.
