Cause of Death and Obituary for Jason Brown of Louisville, Kentucky: May you rest in peace, Jason Brown. You were the best employer, a true leader, a mentor, and frequently the biggest pain in my butt. To tell the truth, I would not have liked it any other way. At work and in their hearts, everyone who had the honor of knowing you is incredibly grieved by your passing.
Jason was more than just a "boss" from the beginning. He was a force of nature—passionate, relentless, driven, and, let us face it, sometimes annoyingly stubborn. He had a way of making people step beyond of their comfort zones, and somehow, they always felt thankful afterward. Because with Jason, it was never about micromanagement or control. It was related to development. He believed in others more than they believed in themselves, and he was not afraid to challenge them in unflattering ways to help them rise.
His intensity was unpleasant on other days, and you would leave a conversation thinking, "Jason is really testing me today." His high demands appeared unrealistic. But even in those circumstances, you knew he had your back. He did not push you because he did not care about you; he did so because he did. He wanted the best for you above anything else.
Jason was a leader in more ways than one. He made the office feel comfortable. He always made time to check in—in a sincere and intimate way—brought donuts when he realized we had had a difficult week, and he cracked laughs at the most unexpected times. During team meetings, he consistently reminded us that we were more than simply a collection of colleagues; we were a family.
In addition to being an excellent employer, Jason was a wonderful person. He loved deeply and was incredibly devoted. It was clear from the way he talked about his family, the little things he did in the background that no one ever asked him to do, and his pride in his team. Jason's presence gave you the sense that everything will be well, even in the middle of chaos.
Tonight, his parents in particular are on my mind. The anguish of such a loss cannot be lessened by words. Regardless of his achievements or the number of people he led, Jason was always their guy. They, along with all of my friends, coworkers, and loved ones who are missing him, are in my prayers.
Jason, even though you sometimes made me crazy, you were respected, I learned from you, and I will never forget you. Thank you for being who you were. I would not have traded our time together for anything.
Go to bed, supervisor. You truly were one of a kind.
