Charles Levine Obituary-Death News: Former Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Deputy Charles Levine Died in a Fatal Crash
A two-vehicle crash on LA 338 near Bonvillian Road in Youngsville early on Friday morning unfortunately claimed the life of Charles Levine, a former Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office officer, at the age of 56.
According to the Louisiana State Police, Levine's 2012 Ford F-150 crossed the centerline for an unknown cause when he was driving west on LA 338. This resulted in a head-on collision with an eastbound 2019 GMC Sierra while negotiating a right turn.
The event resulted in Levine's truck catching fire. Unfortunately, despite the quick response of the first responders, Levine was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMC driver was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention after sustaining serious injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, both drivers underwent routine toxicological testing; the findings are still waiting.
Along with Levine's family and former coworkers, the municipality is mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant. Tributes have started to emerge in honor of his commitment and hard work during his law enforcement career.
The Louisiana State Police are investigating the circumstances behind this unfortunate crash.
