Cause of Death & Obituary New York, FDNY, Joe Herman

Cause of Death and Obituary for Joe Herman, FDNY, New York: Life does not prepare you for such circumstances. We at FDNY are deeply saddened by the loss of our brother, Firefighter Joe Herman #13, who passed away in a terrible and agonizing manner.

Words cannot sufficiently convey the depth of this grief. In addition to being a firefighter, Joe was a brother, a friend, a protector, and a silent hero. He was a tower of support to everyone who worked with him at the firehouse because he was trustworthy, brave, and always eager to answer the call at any cost. He lived bravely and selflessly, dedicating his life to a cause greater than himself.

The number 13 will have a far greater meaning now. It commemorates his badge as well as the life of a man who gave his all to protect and save others. Throughout every alert, emergency, and private moment of camaraderie in the firehouse, Joe showed heart, humility, and honor.

A close-knit family member is lost when a firefighter passes away. In addition to being a place of employment, the firehouse is also a place of residence. And Joe was family in every sense of the word. There will always be a vacuum left by his passing, and his memory will be present in every call, locker, and truck—any instance where we remember what it means to serve together.

We offer Joe's family our deepest condolences. Remember that you are not alone in your grief, even though there are no words that can lessen the anguish of this inexplicable loss. You have the unwavering support, broken hearts, and shared sorrow of the entire FDNY family. We will carry on Joe's legacy with pride and dignity, honoring his integrity, fortitude, and selflessness in both his life and death.

Please keep our FDNY family in your prayers. May we stand for each other during this trying time, stay close, and never forget what Firefighter Joe Herman #13 sacrificed.
