Bryan Newsome Matthew Accident: A Weatherford Man Who Died in a Fatal I-20 Crash Was Loved throughout Texas

Bryan Matthew Newsome, 41, of Weatherford, died in a horrific high-speed crash on eastbound Interstate 20 on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

According to the Abilene Police Department, Khua Ling, 56, of Dallas, was driving a white 2018 Freightliner box truck when Newsome's white 2016 Toyota Camry struck the back of the vehicle. Both vehicles were traveling east in the outer lane, with the box truck ahead of the Camry. Witnesses reported that before the crash, Newsome's automobile appeared to be traveling swiftly, pushing the truck forward a significant distance.

Despite the fast arrival of medical responders, Newsome was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin were notified, according to authorities.

Investigators believe that speed had a part in the crash. The Abilene Police Traffic Division is currently investigating whether the event was caused by alcohol, distractions, or other factors.

The unexpected and painful loss that Newsome leaves behind is currently being grieved by his wife and children. He was remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a man who put his family first.

Authorities are urging drivers to exercise additional caution and awareness of their speed, particularly on busy roadways like I-20, while they continue their investigation into the fatal event.
