Madera Man Miguel Amaral Dies in Devastating Two-Vehicle Collision at Rural Intersection, CHP Investigating

The Madera County community is mourning the tragic loss of Miguel Amaral, a 25-year-old Madera resident who was killed in a devastating two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening at a rural intersection. The crash has left family members, friends, and loved ones grieving a sudden and heartbreaking loss while investigators continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the crash at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 18½ and Road 19 in Madera County. Emergency personnel arrived to find both vehicles heavily damaged following a violent collision at the intersection.

Preliminary findings indicate that Miguel Amaral was driving a green 2000 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Road 19 as he approached Avenue 18½. At the same time, a 40-year-old man from Chowchilla was traveling westbound in a silver 2022 Hyundai Tucson along Avenue 18½, where traffic has the right-of-way.

Investigators said Amaral’s Toyota Tacoma failed to stop at the posted stop sign controlling traffic on Road 19 and entered the intersection directly into the path of the westbound Hyundai. The two vehicles collided with significant force, causing catastrophic damage and ejecting Amaral from his vehicle during the impact.

Emergency responders quickly attempted to assess and assist those involved. However, authorities confirmed that Miguel Amaral sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
