At 56 years old, Leigh is confronting a devastating diagnosis that has changed her world in a matter of weeks. Even so, those who speak with her are struck by something remarkable—her voice still carries warmth, grace, and a quiet determination that refuses to surrender to fear.

Just weeks ago, Leigh’s life looked very different. She was caring for her family, managing daily responsibilities, and adjusting to a major life transition after relocating to Foley last August to care for her aging mother. At 84, her mother had suffered a serious fall, and Leigh felt compelled to move south to provide the support only a devoted daughter could offer. It was another example of the selflessness that has long defined her life—putting family first, even when the responsibility is immense.

Leigh’s life has already been shaped by profound loss and perseverance. Years ago, she met her husband Stan while attending Jacksonville State University. Their love quickly grew, and together they welcomed two children, Haylee and Austin. But their happiness was shattered when Stan died in a car accident less than five years into their marriage. Leigh recently completed her first chemotherapy session at Southern Cancer Center, spending five exhausting hours receiving treatment.
