While still in the opposite lane, the Honda Civic collided head-on with an eastbound Volvo semi-truck pulling a box trailer. The force of the impact caused the semi-truck to come to a stop in the roadway, while the smaller vehicle left the highway and came to rest down an embankment, highlighting the severity of the collision.
Authorities confirmed that 21-year-old Kimora Manuel and 22-year-old Le’Marea Holmes, both from Cincinnati, were pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of their injuries. Their sudden deaths have left families and friends grieving the loss of two young lives taken in an instant on a quiet early morning roadway.
The driver of the Honda Civic, 23-year-old Kelis Manuel of Fairfield, Ohio, along with another rear-seat passenger, sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to Cincinnati-area hospitals for emergency medical treatment. Officials have not released updated conditions on their recovery.
The driver of the semi-truck involved in the crash suffered minor injuries. Investigators noted that despite the violent impact, the truck remained on the roadway after the collision, and emergency crews worked quickly to secure the scene and assist those involved.
