According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Southwest Pratt Whitney Road and Bulldog Way, just outside the school campus.

Investigators said Brooks was traveling northbound when he failed to slow down for stopped traffic ahead and rear-ended a dump truck. Officials confirmed that he died at the scene from his injuries.
