Authorities report that the crash was caused by a medical emergency experienced by the driver of a full-size pickup traveling east on East Broadway. The driver lost consciousness, causing the vehicle to collide with cars stopped at a red light, resulting in multiple injuries. Schwarting, a 2019 McFarland High School graduate, was a standout athlete, setting multiple records as the school’s quarterback.
