Teen Gunfight at Winston-Salem Park Leaves Two Dead and Multiple Youths Injured in Morning Mass Shooting

 In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the community is reeling after a violent mass shooting at Leinbach Park on Monday morning left two teenagers dead and several others injured, turning what began as a reported fight into a devastating scene of gunfire that unfolded in a public space and sent shockwaves through the city.

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers were dispatched around 9:52 a.m. after receiving reports of a physical altercation at the park. While units were en route, additional emergency calls confirmed that shots had been fired and multiple individuals had been struck, rapidly escalating the urgency of the response.

Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a pre-arranged confrontation involving juveniles. When the groups gathered at Leinbach Park, the situation quickly deteriorated, leading to an exchange of gunfire that took place in an area typically used for recreation, community gatherings, and everyday public activity.

Upon arrival, officers encountered chaos as individuals fled in multiple directions across the park and nearby areas. In the parking lot, authorities located 17-year-old Erubey Romero Medina suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, 16-year-old Daniel Jimenez Millian, was found inside the park with a gunshot wound. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was also pronounced deceased at the location, marking another tragic loss of a young life in a matter of moments.

In addition to the fatalities, several others were injured and found near the parking area of 3474 Robinhood Road. Those victims included a 14-year-old female, a 15-year-old female, a 17-year-old female, an 18-year-old male, and a 19-year-old female, with injuries ranging from critical to less severe conditions, according to officials.

Authorities stated that a total of seven people were struck by gunfire during the incident. Detectives are still working to determine the specific roles of each individual involved, noting that some victims may have also participated in the exchange of gunfire as part of the pre-arranged confrontation now under investigation.
