According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers were dispatched around 9:52 a.m. after receiving reports of a physical altercation at the park. Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a pre-arranged confrontation involving juveniles. Upon arrival, officers encountered chaos as individuals fled in multiple directions across the park and nearby areas. In the parking lot, authorities located 17-year-old Erubey Romero Medina suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim, 16-year-old Daniel Jimenez Millian, was found inside the park with a gunshot wound. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was also pronounced deceased at the location, marking another tragic loss of a young life in a matter of moments.
In addition to the fatalities, several others were injured and found near the parking area of 3474 Robinhood Road. Those victims included a 14-year-old female, a 15-year-old female, a 17-year-old female, an 18-year-old male, and a 19-year-old female, with injuries ranging from critical to less severe conditions, according to officials.
Authorities stated that a total of seven people were struck by gunfire during the incident. Detectives are still working to determine the specific roles of each individual involved, noting that some victims may have also participated in the exchange of gunfire as part of the pre-arranged confrontation now under investigation.
