Emergency responders from Montgomery EMS and Robert Wood Johnson paramedics provided care at the scene before Amaral was airlifted by NorthSTAR helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries several days later. Alves was unharmed in the incident.

A Rowan University graduate, Amaral was the founder of Renatus Energy, a company dedicated to solar energy development. He is remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to sustainable energy, and the kindness he shared with family, friends, and the community.
