Two Rainier Beach High School Students Shot and Killed at Seattle Bus Stop After Classes

 SEATTLE, WA — A devastating shooting near Rainier Beach High School has left the community mourning the loss of two students, identified as 17‑year‑old Traveiah Houfmuse and Tyjon Stewart, who were fatally shot Friday afternoon at a bus stop.

The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street, shortly after school dismissal. According to Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis, Seattle police arrived to find both teens suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers attempted lifesaving measures, but Houfmuse and Stewart were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the suspect fled on foot before police arrived. Despite an immediate search, no arrest has been made. Investigators described the shooting as a targeted incident, emphasizing that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed Houfmuse’s identity and age.

Support for the families has poured in through separate GoFundMe fundraisers, each raising approximately $10,000 by Wednesday. Organizers described the teens as beloved members of their school and community, and donations are being used to cover funeral expenses and provide assistance to grieving relatives.
