We recall and celebrate the life of 70-year-old Youngsville, Louisiana resident Thelma Thibeaux, whose life was brutally and abruptly cut, with great grief and great sadness. Her demise has reverberated across her family, friends, neighbors, and all of Youngsville, causing many to find it difficult to grasp such a terrible loss.

Thelma Thibeaux Youngsville, Louisiana Murder Elderly Woman

Officials claim what started out as a claim of a stolen vehicle soon developed into a significantly worse finding. At around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 6, the Youngsville Police Department got a call reporting a stolen SUV from a house on 4th Street. Not long after, authorities found the car, which started a police chase with the suspected driver.

Following the chase, the suspect, Dylan Green, aged 20, was arrested. First-degree murder, aggravated flight from a police officer, and unlicensed use of a motor vehicle are among the serious offenses he presently confronts. Authorities got a second call reporting an inert woman at the same home from which the SUV had been taken as the probe went on.

When responding officers arrived at the residence, they made the terrible discovery that Thelma Thibeaux had been discovered dead inside. Law enforcement verified the investigation as a homicide, signaling a terrible and pointless conclusion to a life that had impacted many.

In a criminal inquiry, Thelma was not only a victim. She was a much-loved presence in her neighborhood, a neighbor, a friend, an elder. She had a lifetime of memories, knowledge, and love—presents never replaceable—at 70 years of age. Those who knew her and even those who did not experience deep grief as acts of violence left permanent wounds across whole populations.

The Youngsville neighborhood has gathered in mourning and introspection as detectives search thoroughly to find all the facts around this horrible incident. During this very difficult time, neighbors cling to one another and give prayers, condolences, and support to Thelma's family. Though no amount of justice can reverse the damage, there is still hope that truth and responsibility will offer some degree of peace to those still behind.
