The Rock Hill community is reeling after a tragic shooting on Tuesday night that claimed the lives of two people, including a 4-year-old child, and left a lasting impact on the neighborhood.
According to the Rock Hill Police Department, officers were called around 7:30 p.m. to a reported shooting on Frank Street. Upon arrival, they found two males and a young child suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts, 19-year-old Jamareon Kimble and 4-year-old Jakolby Clifton were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an argument between a 19-year-old and a 34-year-old, which escalated into a violent exchange as both men left the residence. Tragically, the young child inside the home was struck during the gunfire.
The suspect, 34-year-old Cedric Akeen Creighton of Lancaster, has been charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a previously convicted person. Creighton sustained injuries during the incident and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. He will be taken into custody once medically cleared.
