The Port St. Lucie community is reeling after a deadly domestic shooting claimed the life of Glen Morrison, 69, at his home on Northwest Ketona Circle on February 18. Police have arrested his son, 41-year-old Sheldon Morrison, in connection with the incident, which authorities say stemmed from a dispute between father and son.
According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, officers were called to the residence around 7:47 a.m., where Glen Morrison was found fatally shot in the garage. Sheldon Morrison initially fled the scene in a beige or gold Cadillac but was apprehended hours later in Hollywood, Florida. Investigators believe a semi-automatic handgun was used during the shooting.
Police Chief Leo Niemczyk explained that the altercation escalated after the son retreated inside the home, obtained a firearm, and returned to the garage where the shooting occurred. Only Glen Morrison, his wife, and son were at home at the time. Neighbors described the family as quiet and friendly, expressing shock at the violent turn of events.
The tragedy is part of a recent string of deadly shootings in the Port St. Lucie area, including the Feb. 16 fatal shooting of 29-year-old Mario Jose Romero Alonzo and another earlier incident involving 34-year-old Anbut Brutus. These consecutive incidents have left residents anxious and concerned for neighborhood safety.
Authorities continue to investigate, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to establish a complete timeline of events. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing case.
The Morrison family and the surrounding community are grappling with grief and disbelief, remembering Glen Morrison as a quiet, friendly neighbor and family man whose life was abruptly and tragically ended. Support resources have been made available for those affected by this harrowing event.
