The Regina Police Service has disclosed a third arrest in the murder inquiry around Michael Ross, a case that has deeply affected the Regina neighborhood ever since it first came to light in January.
After police found Michael Ross's body in the trunk of an abandoned car on the west side of the city, he was discovered dead. The terrible find started a thorough inquiry that has since produced several criminal counts and arrests.
Police verified on Tuesday that Shyla Keewatin, 33, has been accused of first-degree murder and carrying out an outrage to a corpse in connection with Ross's death. Wednesday will see Keewatin's debut in Regina Provincial Court.
Though police have not released further information about the events leading up to Ross's death, investigators claim she was directly culpable in it. Two further people were before charged as the inquiry progressed.
On January 26, Steven Lee Myslichuk, 37, was arrested; he appeared in court two days later, on January 28. Court documents state that Myslichuk is charged with helping someone to flee after committing the killing of Michael Ross.
On January 17, he also faces a charge of improperly disturbing human remains. Police claim Myslichuk drove around town putting Ross's body into a hockey bag and into a car trunk. On February 4, his case is set to return to court.
Kobe Samuel Fiddler, 26, the third defendant, faces multiple severe accusations related to events on January 19. Fiddler is accused of obstructing human remains, running from police, and deliberately helping the one guilty for Ross's murder flee capture.
He also faces weapon-related charges, including possession and concealment of a pellet gun and possession of a firearm while forbidden. Officers made a traffic stop around three o'clock on January 19 near Saskatchewan Drive and Albert Street, the Regina Police Service reported.
The car sped away, so police called in the Aerial Support Unit. The automobile was finally discovered in the 1400 block of Princess Street, but the passengers had already run. Later identified as Michael Ross, officers found a man's body in the trunk of the car.
Police also found a home in the Pioneer Village neighbourhood, in the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue, as part of their continuing inquiry.
