Michael Blankenship Jr. Dies in Late-Night Crash at Okatie Highway and Oldefield Way

 The Beaufort County community is mourning the loss of Michael Anthony Blankenship Jr., a 35-year-old Ridgeland resident, who was killed in a head-on crash on February 18, 2026. The collision occurred at 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Okatie Highway and Oldefield Way, when a 2019 Infiniti QX50 traveling the wrong way on SC-170 eastbound collided with Blankenship’s 2009 Toyota sedan. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Infiniti’s driver sustained injuries and was transported to Memorial Health in Savannah.
