Krystal Farmer Faces 7 Felony Charges After Children Found Starving, Living in Squalor

 A Flint Township, Michigan mother has been arrested following the shocking abandonment of her two special needs children in a home described as “filth-ridden” and uninhabitable. Authorities report that 35-year-old Krystal Farmer, who also goes by the name Krystal Rose on social media, left her children alone for several days, forcing them to endure hunger, squalor, and fear. One child was even found attempting to eat raw, spoiled meat when officers arrived. The children have since been placed in safe conditions.

The incident came to light after a concerned neighbor, Christy Ogles-Campbell, called 911 for a welfare check. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered trash covering the floors, feces smeared along the walls at child height, no clean clothes, and no accessible food. The children had no means to contact the outside world, lacking phones or tablets, and were left in survival conditions without adult supervision. The severity of the neglect prompted authorities to take immediate action to safeguard the children.

Following the investigation, the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office authorized seven felony charges against Farmer, including two counts of felony child abandonment, two counts of second-degree child abuse, two counts of second-degree child abuse in the presence of another child, and one count of felony lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation. Authorities described the situation as a harrowing example of abandonment and neglect, noting that the children were left to fend for themselves while their mother prioritized her own needs.

Neighbors and community members expressed shock at the conditions, with Ogles-Campbell telling WNEM that the neglect may have been ongoing since September. She implored the public to “pray for these little boys” and emphasized the importance of keeping the siblings together, stating that “truly that is all that they have is each other.” The case has ignited concern about child safety and the need for vigilance in reporting suspected neglect.

Police are urging the public to speak up if they witness signs of abuse or neglect, stressing that a single call can prevent further harm. The incident has highlighted both the vulnerability of children with special needs and the responsibility of communities to act when warning signs emerge.
