According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the victim has been identified as Kathy N. Hamilton, 65, of Elkmont. Officials said Hamilton was driving a 2000 GMC 1500 when the vehicle left the roadway for reasons still under investigation. The truck struck a fence before continuing into a nearby pond. Two passengers were also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Hali B. Bridges, 30, and Chance B. Bridges, 29, sustained injuries and were transported to Gadsden Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. Authorities have not released updates regarding their conditions.

Officials stated that investigators are examining multiple factors, including roadway conditions, potential vehicle issues, and environmental circumstances that may have contributed to the crash. No additional details about what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway have been made public.

Early morning crashes can present unique challenges, including reduced visibility, possible fog, moisture on road surfaces, or driver fatigue. Law enforcement officials are reminding motorists to exercise caution, particularly during dawn hours when lighting and road conditions can change rapidly.
