The Anderson County community is mourning the loss of John Robert Simpson, 63, who tragically passed away Thursday after sustaining injuries in a grass fire on his property. Despite the swift response of emergency personnel and medical teams, John’s life was cut short, leaving family, friends, and neighbors grappling with profound sorrow.
A lifelong resident, John was highly regarded for his dedication to his family, his work, and his community. He made significant contributions to construction and land management projects, earning respect for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic. Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 26, from 4–7 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service on Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Anderson, with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family has requested that donations in John’s memory be directed to fire safety education programs or burn survivor charities, causes that reflected his lifelong commitment to helping others.
