The Kansas City community is reeling after a deadly shooting early Sunday inside a nightclub near 28th Street and Southwest Boulevard that left two women dead and two others injured, authorities said.

Lives of Eboni Silas and Tishauna Ballard

According to Kansas City Police Department Capt. Jake Becchina, Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies who were working off‑duty at the nightclub heard gunfire around 2 a.m. and responded along with Kansas City police after multiple 911 calls reported shots fired inside the venue.

When officers entered, they located three adult female shooting victims and began administering aid. One woman, later identified as 29‑year‑old Eboni Silas, died at the scene. Two others were transported to a hospital; one of them, 23‑year‑old Tishauna Ballard, later succumbed to her injuries. A third woman survived with non‑life‑threatening injuries, and a man was also brought to a hospital in critical condition with wounds believed linked to the same incident.

Preliminary reports indicate the victims were inside the nightclub when an interaction with one or more suspects escalated into gunfire. Authorities have not released descriptions of any suspects or confirmed whether a motive has been identified. Homicide detectives are canvassing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and processing evidence as the investigation continues.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact investigators at 816‑234‑5043, or to provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 816‑474‑TIPS. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest or charges in the case.

The tragic shooting has rattled residents and patrons in the area, drawing condolences from community leaders and calls for anyone with video or eyewitness accounts to come forward.
