A terrifying crash in Freehold Township on Friday, February 13, 2026, left a mother and her two young sons injured after they were struck by a vehicle driven by 68-year-old Angela Arrigo of Manalapan. Authorities say Arrigo was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The collision occurred near the entrance of Bloom Academy as Patrice Pisani and her children were stepping out of their car to drop the boys off at school. Police reported that Arrigo’s vehicle accelerated onto the sidewalk, striking the family with significant force. Emergency responders quickly arrived and transported all three to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Pisani suffered back and neck injuries, while her youngest son sustained a leg injury and burns from contact with the undercarriage of the vehicle. Despite the severity of the crash, all three survived and were later released from the hospital. Witnesses described the outcome as “nothing short of miraculous,” given the speed and angle at which the vehicle hit the family. One neighbor said, “This could have ended in tragedy… the fact that all three are alive and recovering is nothing less than a miracle.”
Arrigo has been charged with suspected driving while intoxicated. Prosecutors emphasized that impaired driving is a serious offense with potentially life-altering consequences. “Every time someone chooses to get behind the wheel while impaired by alcohol or drugs, they are placing others at grave risk,” a local prosecutor said, calling the incident a “stark and heartbreaking reminder” of the dangers of DWI.
The crash has renewed calls from local officials and advocacy groups for stricter enforcement of DWI laws and enhanced public education about the hazards of impaired driving. A public safety advocate commented, “No one should have to face the fear and pain that this family endured. We have to do more — together — to prevent crashes like this from happening.”
Friends, classmates, and neighbors have rallied around the Pisani family in support. A neighborhood vigil was held, and a community fund has been established to assist with ongoing medical expenses and recovery needs. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and the case has underscored the serious consequences of driving under the influence in the New Jersey community.
