Second Teen Arrested in Warrenville Murder of Tranard Sheppard

WARRENVILLE, SC — Authorities have announced a second arrest in the investigation into the June 22, 2025 shooting death of Tranard Sheppard. Officials confirmed that Cornelius Marquel Simpkins Jr., 17, has now been charged in connection with the killing. His arrest follows the detention of Marquis Edric Robinson, 17, who was taken into custody last summer as the first suspect in the case.

Second Teen Arrested in Warrenville

The murder of Sheppard shocked the Warrenville community, drawing attention to youth violence and the growing concerns about gang activity in the area. Investigators have worked for months to piece together evidence, relying on witness statements and forensic analysis to build the case against both teenagers. With Simpkins Jr. now charged, prosecutors are expected to move forward with proceedings against both suspects.

Family members of Sheppard have expressed relief that another suspect has been identified, but they continue to grieve the loss of a loved one whose life was cut short. Community leaders say the arrests highlight the urgent need for stronger youth intervention programs to prevent teenagers from being drawn into violent crime.

The case remains active, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further developments as the investigation continues.
