Playing bass on the Scorpions' most well-known albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Francis Buchholz helped the group to achieve world renown. With songs like Rock You Like a Hurricane and No One Like You confirming their position in music history, his work helped create the heavy metal sound that carried the German rockers to global success.
Born in Hanover, Germany, Buchholz started working for the Scorpions in 1973 and stayed with them till 1992. Under his direction, the band became globally renowned, selling millions of records and playing sold-out stadiums across continents. Beyond his days with the Scorpions, he also worked with Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock, therefore supporting the hard rock and metal scene.
In a touching message, his family spread the news of his death, saying he passed peacefully among friends and loved ones. They characterized their sorrow as "overwhelming grief and heavy hearts," whereas admirers and other artists have already started honoring his legacy.
