The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting an inquiry into a deadly incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that resulted in the death of a man on Saturday evening close to Weslaco.
As reported by DPS, the accident happened around 6:21 p.m. on Saturday on FM 1015, situated south of Mile 13½ North Road, to the north of Weslaco. Initial findings suggest that a gray 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by a male driver, was heading north on FM 1015 at the time of the incident.
Officials indicate that, for reasons that remain unclear, a pedestrian dashed into the northbound traffic lane towards the Silverado. The pedestrian was hit by the front right-side mirror of the vehicle. The driver halted immediately and tried to provide assistance.
The pedestrian has been named as Raul Palomin, 48, from Edcouch. He was taken to McAllen Medical Hospital, where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is still looking into the details regarding the incident. There has been no further information disclosed at this moment.
