His unexpected death has caused sorrow among family members, friends, classmates, and the wider communities of Delphi and Purdue University, as they mourn the loss of a young man celebrated for his warmth, creative abilities, and generosity.

Nate was born on September 18, 2004, in Hammond, Indiana, to his loving parents, Albert “Al” and Denise McFarland Rossi. He exhibited a gentle nature and an artistic inclination from a young age, which shaped his interests throughout his life. His upbringing was filled with affection, faith, and significant family principles that remained integral to his identity.

In 2023, Nate completed his education at Delphi Community High School, where he was recognized for his friendly demeanor, serene personality, and artistic talents. Teachers and peers describe him as someone who was quiet but reflective, providing a sense of comfort and authenticity to those around him. After graduating, he followed his aspiration of being a designer by enrolling at Purdue University in West Lafayette, where he was a junior pursuing graphic design. His imaginative thinking, meticulousness, and creativity indicated a bright future ahead of him.

Nate’s faith was a significant aspect of his life. He was baptized at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Schererville, celebrated his First Holy Communion at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Lafayette, and received confirmation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. These essential spiritual events were meaningful experiences shared with his family and served as important foundations in his life.

Beyond his studies, Nate took pleasure in music, often playing the guitar as a way to unwind and express himself. He had a passion for video games and photography, enjoying both the digital art form and the opportunity to capture moments from reality through his camera. Among his happiest times were family vacations, particularly the trips to Disney. His favorite spot was Galaxy’s Edge, where his adventurous spirit and imagination flourished.

Additionally, Nate was a passionate animal lover and had a special connection with his dog, Teddy. Whether he was taking walks or simply appreciating the outdoors, Nate found joy in life’s most basic delights. His free-spirited nature, gentle humor, and dependable presence made him truly valued by everyone around him.

Most importantly, Nate cherished his family. He held a deep devotion to his parents and his sister, Cynthia, and valued every moment they spent together. The memories they created together are now treasured keepsakes that will last a lifetime.

Nate is survived by his parents, Al and Denise Rossi from Delphi; his sister, Cynthia F. Rossi from Delphi; his maternal grandmother, Carol McFarland from Lansing, Illinois; uncles and aunts Rick and Amy McFarland, Geoff and Christy McFarland, and Bill and Tina McFarland; as well as cousins Lily, Kennedy, Megan, Geoffrey McFarland, and Rylie Weber. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Nicholas Andrew Rossi, who passed away shortly after birth.

Viewing will take place on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Delphi Methodist Church, located at 1796 N. US 421, Delphi, Indiana. A private funeral service for family members and burial will take place afterward, led by Rev. Todd Ladd and Fr. David Buckles. Donations in memory may be directed to the Nathan Rossi Memorial Fund, c/o Security Federal Banks.

Even though his time on earth was much too brief, Nate’s legacy will endure through the affection he gave, the artistic talents he showcased, and the serene grace with which he accompanied his life.
