Mott Community College Deadly Shooting: Individual Passed Away at Ballenger Field House Located on MCC’s Flint, MI Campus

 A shooting incident took place on Saturday night at Mott Community College in Flint, resulting in one fatality, as reported by a notification from the institution.


The event happened at the Ballenger Field House located on the college grounds. Officials from the college have stated that one individual has been apprehended in connection with the incident, and law enforcement continues to be present at the site.

In a notification sent across the campus by Mott Community College, officials expressed that they do not consider there to be any further danger to the public at this moment. The college requested that students, faculty, and community individuals refrain from coming to campus while the investigation is active.

"ALERT: A person was shot at Ballenger Field House on January 10, 2026," stated the notification. "One individual has been taken into custody. Officers are currently on-site, and we do not perceive any other threats to public safety at this time. Please refrain from coming to campus."

The identity of both the victim and the suspect has not been disclosed by the authorities. Initially, the condition of the victim was unknown, but later it was confirmed that the victim succumbed to injuries from the shooting.

Mott Community College announced that all formal updates will be communicated by the college's Department of Public Safety and/or Marketing and Communications. The investigation is still in progress, and more information is anticipated to be shared as it becomes accessible.
