Law enforcement authorities in Columbia County have announced that a homicide suspect was discovered dead on Saturday night following a thorough multi-agency search in Lake City, Florida.

Lake City Tragedy: Tina Farmer, aged 27

As reported by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), deputies were sent out around 4:07 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, after a 911 call informed them of a shooting incident at a home located at 502 SW Journey Court. The deputies arrived within minutes and found an adult woman who had suffered a lethal gunshot wound. She was later recognized as 27-year-old Tina Farmer.

Witness accounts at the scene allowed deputies to swiftly identify a suspect and set up a perimeter around a nearby wooded region. Given the belief that the suspect was still armed, CCSO issued a shelter-in-place order to local residents. This notice was shared via the sheriff's office Facebook page and through Columbia County Emergency Management Services.

Due to adverse weather and the extensive area to be searched, CCSO sought help from various agencies. Assistance came from the Lake City Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office. This collaborative operation included K-9 teams, SWAT units, and drone operators.

Tyndale Mullins, aged 19, Met with a Fatal End

Employing aerial reconnaissance and tactical equipment, law enforcement was able to determine the suspect’s whereabouts. Shortly after 7:00 p.m., CCSO drones and SWAT teams found the deceased suspect in the woods. Officials verified that all family members were informed at the time of the announcement.

The suspect was subsequently named as 19-year-old Tyndale M. Mullins, a cousin of the victim. Investigators indicated that Mullins graduated from Columbia High School’s Class of 2025. Officials stressed that the investigation is continuing, and the circumstances preceding the shooting are still under review.

Law enforcement has stated that there is no ongoing danger to the community. More information will be provided as investigators persist in their efforts to unravel the events leading to the tragic incident.
