Josh Clay Beloved Death and Obituaries: husband and father community member of Ottoville, Ohio, passes away at 48
After an unforeseen health event, Joshua "Josh" Clay died quietly on January 18, 2026; the Ottoville, Ohio community is grieving.Among family, friends, colleagues, and all those fortunate enough to have known him, his death has produced great grief.Josh was 48 years of age.
Born on November 13, 1977, Josh grew up in Redkey, Indiana, with his caring parents, Roger Clay and Patricia (Kunkle) Clay.Early on, he showed will, warmth, and a strong devotion to people around him—characteristics that characterized both his personal and professional life.Laying the groundwork for a life founded on devotion, leadership, and compassion, he graduated from Jay County High School in 1996 and afterwards obtained his degree from Hanover College in 2000.
Above everything else, Josh loved his family.His world centered around two daughters, Rowan and Berkeley, whom he raised with his wife, Lisa (Barrett) Clay, who had a loving marriage.Being an engaged father, assisting his daughters in all projects, Josh took great satisfaction.Never passing up a chance to cheer, instruct, and recognize their accomplishments, he coached them in basketball, soccer, and softball.
Josh's happiest times centered on family vacations.He and Lisa built their lake home, which grew to be the basis of many treasured memories, summers spent there.Sharing his passion for adventure and the outdoors, Josh proudly instructed his girls to ski from three years old on annual mountain trips.Thanksgiving celebrations sometimes brought the family to New York City, where they savored the Macy's Day Parade, regional cuisine, and the adventure of seeing new surroundings.Josh sought every chance to broaden his daughters' perspective and firmly believed in revealing the world to them.
Josh was a person of unrelenting dedication and generosity to those who knew him.Every obstacle in life he faced with honesty and willfulness.Though well regarded both professionally and among his neighbors, he held several roles; none, however, were more crucial to him than Husband and Dad.He was also a dedicated son, brother, coach, friend, and coworker—titles that reflected the profound influence he had on others.Those lucky enough to be a part of his life will always recall his compassion, fidelity, and unwavering support.
Along with many other family members proudly bearing the Clay and Kunkle surnames, Josh is survived by his wife Lisa; daughters Rowan and Berkeley; parents Roger and Patricia (Kunkle) Clay; and his brother Auston Clay.Predeceased were his grandfathers Gussie and Nola (Adkins) Clay, Joe and Bettie (Valentine) Kunkle, Uncle Stephen Kunkle, and Aunt Brenda Clay.
According to Josh's desires, there won't be a traditional funeral.Instead of that, a life celebration and cookout will be organized at the family's lake home this coming summer with further announcements to follow.For a guy who cherished togetherness, humor, and communal experiences, this will be a gathering perfect.
Though Josh Clay's physical presence is gone, his legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lives he guided, and the love he gave so freely.Those who knew him will always find direction from his memory.
