Seventeen-year-old Elkhart resident JayDee Miller died in a weather-related car accident Sunday night in Elkhart County and the community is grieving her loss.
Investigators found that the semi's front end was hit by the van as it crossed the centre line because the road was slippery. The van's passenger, JayDee Miller, died in the accident.
The van's driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for care. The semi's driver was not said to have been hurt.
As authorities keep looking into the events leading up to the fatal crash, the investigation is still under progress.
For his family, friends, and the neighborhood of Elkhart, JayDee Miller's death is very painful. Loved ones are mourning a young life full of potential that was sadly shortened. The catastrophe reminds us gravely about the risks presented by bad road conditions and harsh cold conditions.
As the inquiry progresses, more information will be made public.
