Authorities in Humphreys County are looking into a tragic event after four individuals were discovered deceased within a residence on East Little Richland Road on Friday morning, an event that law enforcement characterizes as a likely murder-suicide.

As stated by the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were performing a welfare check at the location when they stumbled upon the heartbreaking finding. The remains of two adults and two children were found within the house. Sheriff Chris Davis assured that there is no danger to the community and highlighted that this incident seems to be confined to the individuals involved.

Investigators have named the woman found in the residence as Heather Thompson. Authorities reported that Thompson had succumbed to what was identified as a self-inflicted injury. A firearm was located in proximity to her body. Officials indicated that her two sons, Arius “Ari” Thompson, aged 5, and Isaiah Thompson, aged 13, along with her 83-year-old mother, were also discovered deceased in the home. Heather Thompson had military and security service experience. She completed her training at the U.S. Army Quartermaster School in Fort Lee, Virginia, in 2011. She was affiliated with Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 572 and had previously worked as an Armed Security Captain with the Tennessee Valley Authority. In an emotional public statement, the children’s father, Biah Thompson, conveyed deep sorrow regarding the loss of his sons.

“Today has been a day I wouldn’t wish on any other parent,” he expressed. “As a father, hearing that my sons, Arius and Isaiah, are no longer here has shattered my soul. They were merely children. With every moment today, I wish I could awaken from this nightmare.”

He mentioned that arrangements for the funeral have yet to be completed, but he intends to transport his sons back to New Mexico for the services.
