Though sadly those attempts proved futile, fire and medical staff quickly set about life-saving procedures. Grant was pronounced dead at 12:23 a.m., therefore becoming the third traffic-related death on the Big Island this year. Although an autopsy has been scheduled to ascertain the precise reason of death, authorities stated speed and alcohol are thought to have been aggravating causes.
