85-year-old Floyd Eugene Landers passed away Monday evening after a horrible accident at the intersection of Sayre Street and South Murray Avenue. The Anderson community is mourning his death.
The crash happened at about 6:15 p.m., as per the Anderson County Coroner's Office. Initial data suggests that Landers was driving on South Murray Avenue when a vehicle travelling on Sayre Street hit his car on the side.
Officials said that Landers was found in critical condition at the scene and taken to AnMed, where he died shortly after arrival. The coroner concluded he died from blunt chest injury sustained in the collision. At the time of the collision, he was wearing a seat belt; his death was deemed accidental.
Family, friends, and the Anderson community are mourning a life well lived after Floyd Eugene Landers died. Loved ones recall him as a much-loved pillar of the community whose death is much regretted.
The Anderson Police Department and the Anderson County Coroner's Office keep looking into the events leading up to the fatal accident.
