The community is grieving the untimely death of Dustin J. Casey, who died unexpectedly this week following a medical emergency. Family, friends, and coworkers are grieving over his sudden death as they recall a man whose compassion, intellect, and character impacted many lives.

Death of Dusty Casey Data Operations Manager

Known for his professionalism, excellent analytic mind, and commitment to excellence, Dustin was a business intelligence data operations manager at Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance. As a Drake University graduate and study abroad student at the University of Sydney, he further expanded his global viewpoint; these experiences shaped both his job and outlook.

Dustin was greatly revered for the man he was, outside of his career successes. Friends always describe him as someone who could relate to anybody, whatever their background. He was warm, approachable, honest—characteristics that made him highly admired and adored.

Sharing a touching tribute reflecting the depth of Dustin's influence was one of those friends, Joe Mitchell:

I first met Dusty Casey during fraternity rush in the autumn of 2015, over ten years ago. Eventually becoming my fraternity 'Dad,' Dusty was a mentor who took me under his wing as a fresh college student. One person I looked up to was he was friendly to all, regardless of background. Everyone who knew Dusty found Dusty appealing.

Dusty Casey Death Beloved Business

You could not meet a better man; he was very clever and amusing. He loved his nation, friends, and family more than anything else.

Dustin had friends outside of his college life. He was a treasured member of an annual deer hunting tradition with dear pals for seven years—time spent reconnecting, telling tales, and deepening relationships.

Mitchell penned, "Every year, Dusty was there." He was very proud this year of his first buck. Yesterday I received the worst news one could ever get. Too young had died my brother and friend. He will be missed much. I already yearn for you beyond words' ability to describe it. Fly high, Duster.

Loyalty, mentoring, laughter, and love for those nearby define Dustin J. Casey's legacy. Though his life was abruptly cut tragically short, his impact will live on in the several lives he molded simply by being himself.

He will always be missed beyond description.
