 The medical community in Garland and broader North Texas is grieving the untimely loss of Dr. Areeb Zamir, a pulmonologist affiliated with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Garland, who tragically lost his life in a vehicular accident in Dallas on New Year’s Eve. He was just 37 years old.

Dr. Zamir, residing in Murphy, Texas, was greatly esteemed for his commitment to patient welfare and was cherished for his empathy, modesty, and dedication to others. He was the adored son of Nazia and Zafar Zamir, a family valued in the community. The news of his death has left friends, family, colleagues, and patients heartbroken.

Dallas police reported that Dr. Zamir was one of three individuals involved in a sequence of collisions on North Central Expressway early in the morning of New Year’s Eve. Authorities stated that two different accidents happened just minutes apart, one in the northbound traffic and another in the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 near the Interstate 635 interchange. The initial crash took place around 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Dr. Zamir on the road, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was later confirmed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Dr. Zamir is survived by his wife, Dr. Nabila Zamir, and their two young children, aged 8 and 3. His passing is referred to by those close to him as an unspeakable loss—both an immense personal tragedy and a significant void for the community he dedicated himself to.

Community members have offered prayers and expressions of sympathy, requesting that Allah embrace Dr. Zamir with His boundless mercy, elevate him to the highest rank in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and grant strength, patience, and solace to his parents, Nazia and Zafar Zamir; his wife; his children; and the entire Zamir family during this incredibly difficult time.

Funeral arrangements have been made following Islamic customs. Dr. Zamir’s janazah is set for EPIC after Jumuah prayers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, with the funeral prayer anticipated to occur around 2:00 p.m. Burial is scheduled to follow at Farmersville Cemetery at about 3:00 p.m.

As colleagues, friends, and family continue to mourn, Dr. Areeb Zamir is remembered as a dedicated physician, a caring husband and father, and a son whose life of service and compassion made a lasting impact. His legacy will persist in the lives he touched and in the memories of his family and community who will forever cherish him.
