The deadly incident took place around 6:00 a.m. on Highway 14 close to Byron, situated in Kalmar Township, approximately 20 miles west of Rochester. Officials stated that Braden was headed east when his car veered off the road and overturned into the ditch on the south side. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was declared dead at the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol indicated that Braden was not buckled in with a seat belt during the collision. The circumstances surrounding the vehicle leaving the roadway are still being investigated by authorities.
